Langley Law Firm Achieves $18 Million Settlement in Wrongful Death Case

Attorneys Ryan Langley and Matt Foss resolved a tractor trailer wrongful death case for $18 million after months of negotiation following a mediation. The case involved nearly $100,000 of investment into liability, damages, and case presentation materials. The collision took place in 2023. The alleged at-fault driver was traveling on Interstate 20 when, according to a witness, he was not able to maintain his lane of travel and crossed through the median cable barrier and entered the opposite lane of travel where he struck the Decedent, causing them both to careen off the side of the roadway. The medical bills totaled approximately $3 million and the loss in earning capacity and family services equated to approximately $1.5 million.  

The family’s patience and belief in their case as presented by the attorneys was critical to the significant recovery because the initial offer was less than $4 million. Over the course of negotiation, the offers slowly increased based on the strength of the arguments and facts developed through detailed and comprehensive investigation, and ultimately the $18 million settlement was reached.
